For the love of Nneka

For the love of Nneka

I recently became a content contributor on Dynamic Africa and one of my first assignments was to review Nneka’s new album,  My Fairy Tales. I am an active follower of Nneka’s music and this happened to be her second full length project I got to listen too.
It is completely different from Soul is Heavy,  not in a lyrical or thematic perspective but from a musical standpoint. She borrows heavy from reggae music and delivers very charged steady songs. I wish I get to see Nneka perform on day but for now,  you can read my review here and let me know what you think.

  1. I recently discovered this utterly remarkable artist (a full length concert in South America!) on YouTube quite by accident (or Divine intention?) She is so obviously a true artist; one who gives herself to her art and makes few if any apologies. Here’s hoping she continues to make her art as true to herself as possible and we continue to hear it. I too hope one day to see her perform live…

  2. Fantastic review of her latest as well, Hakeem! Great job and deep insights into her music and importance as an African artist doing things her own way. Well done. I wish one of those tour dates was happening near me, but I have faith; if I’m to see her live, I will!
